I don't need the phono input or mqa of the Brooklyn.

Still worth upgrading?

Which model of Benchmark DAC are you using?

I would think it worthwhile, if you have the scratch.

Have you considered the Dac 3?

I went from the DAC 3 HGC to the Brooklyn, mainly for MQA support. It's a worthwhile upgrade from the DAC 1. If you don't need all the features you should consider an upgraded version of the Musical Paradise MP-D2 Tube DAC. I prefer the AKM Velvet Sound chips but you can get it with a Sabre ES9038PRO if you want.

Has been reported that the US Distributor in NY is MIA so you may to want to follow up regarding service/technical support.

Source first. This is a rule experienced audiophiles learn with time.

So my advice is buy the best source you can afford and save money in the long term.

Agree source first. But more money might be for more features not better sound.

That is what I'm trying to find out with these particular dacs

Only know Benchmark from a decade ago, when I found the DAC1 ultra-detailed but ultimately fatiguing.

I have the MyTek Brooklyn now and the only thing on the used market that might—only might—tempt me away would be the Berkeley Alpha.

However, if you use or wish to be able to use, computer- or fileserver-based music files, for the Berkeley you also need a USB-to-S/PDIF or AES converter, while the MyTek has all the connectivity one could want.

Another big plus for the MyTek is that, although the designer used a switching power supply—typical in pro audio for DACs—he also thoughtfully included a 12 VDC input which bypasses the internal power supply. This enables one to use any of a number of audiophile-quality third-party power supplies (e.g., Mojo Audio, UpTone Audio, Teradak). The manual even points out that a 12 V car battery can be used.

Anyway...I use mine with an UpTone Audio power supply, which adds those extra degrees of refinement to what is already an excellent DAC.

At its price-point, and quite a ways beyond it, the Brooklyn is a fine DAC. I am using it with components that, in terms of MRSP, are orders of magnitude more expensive.

I purchased my DAC+ directly from Mytek in December, none of the dealers here in Toronto had them in stock at the time and they move fast.
I really am enjoying it.
