Very Sad News,
I figured I’d start a new topic since this was in with another.

Gary will be missed by all who knew him.
A great person, condolences to his family

R.I.P.

Absolutely horrible news. I spent a lot of time in his shop Better Music from 1989 shortly after it opened to about 1993. After that I would drive there periodically fromt eh GTA to get LPs, cds and service.

When I switched from Linn to Rega, I bought a bunch of stuff again from him.

Wonderful low pressure environment in his store and he was a real gentleman.

Very fond memories.

Plus he was one of the top Linn techs in Ontario so huge loss from that angle too.

I am greatly saddened by the news of Gary's passing. I was very lucky to work with Gary for several years at London Audio when I first got started in audio in the mid eighties. He will be missed.

This is horrible shocking news. I had recently reconnected wirh Gary after losing contact for several years. Absolutely without a doubt one of the truly good guys of Audio. A combination of integrity, knowledge and enthusiasm rarely seen in this day and age. My sincerest condolences to Crystal and the kids. He will be sorely, sorely missed.

That has to be the most disrespectful comment in this thread. Thanks for being the internet spell checker of the year.

If you missed the nuance of the thread, it is to give condolences to a man that others seem to respect. "Respect" ponder that for a moment.

I never knew the man but I do like reading the comments from others. It shows that people actually care about others. Most times this community can be very endearing, then there always has to be "that guy".

My condolences to Gary's family for their loss.

Deeply saddened by this news. Given his long career in audio, I only knew him for a relatively short period of time. However, I had the privilege of having spent a number of hours with him as he worked on my TT. I would make the trip to his shop, always looking forward to seeing him again; chatting it up, watching him work and learning about the tech side of this hobby.
He made you feel very welcomed with each visit. On my last trip, this past Fall, he worked tirelessly trying to solve an issue with my plinth. He did a tear down and rebuild 3 times during that session before he was convinced that the problem was solved. Just an example of his dedication, knowledge and professionalism shown to those lucky enough to have spent time with him. I know that he has had an impact on many lives during his store years and later with his home-based business. He will be truly missed.

My condolences to Christel and family.

I can't hope to add to what has already been said. I'll really miss Gary apart from his skills. He was also the best turntable technician I have ever met.

RIP

-Chris

This is shockingly sad news indeed. I have dealt with Gary since 1995. Just six months ago he spent the afternoon in my home taking my Linn system to fully aktiv mode. He was always so easy to talk to and there wasn't anything he didn't know about an LP12 table. My condolences to his family.

For those who are interested, there is a Memorial service being held for Gary tomorrow at Balls Falls conservation area. Please check the Better Music website for time and details.

I posted this in another thread. Just wanted to share my comments and the link below to Gary's obituary.

Sad news fellow CAMr's.
Found out this morning from another post here on CAM, that Gary Dilliott of Better Music passed away suddenly on January 17, 2018. I never had the pleasure of meeting Gary, but spoke with him a few times and he was always helpful and kind! I know he will be greatly missed. My condolences to his family and friends.

Another analog guy forever to be missed. And another reminder of our fleeting mortality.

My deepest condolences to the Dilliott family.
