I have a Technics SL 1200 MK2 and thinking I might replace it with a Rega RP6 or Clear Audio concept. I have a Moon 340 i and Paradigm Studio 60 speakers… I was wondering if I would hear a huge difference in sound.. Unfortunatly living far north, I do not have the opportunity to audition either one of the tables to even compare.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Cartridges are a major influencer here. What are you using right now, and what are you considering?

there are deals available now on both tables that you are looking at. I ordered the Concept at the $800 off deal that is currently available and a local dealer is offering the RP6 with Exact cart at $1800.

Very different sounding decks, especially when the cartridges are taken into consideration.

What change is it you're looking for?

Just wondering if my deck is out dated and if the new technology that goes in the new ones would sound much better, as I said there is nothing around where i could possible audition.

THe v15 is not the best match for the existing arm. You may want to think about an arm swap and keeping the cartridge.

Try a Denon 103 or 301MKII on the Technics. I loved the 301MKII on my Technics 1401. It sounded even better on my Rega RP3. I'd skip the Rega and go to a VPI.

Old, yes, out-dated, far from it. Sure they are better decks available, but you will have to disburse quite a lot to achieve some "SOME" upgrade in sound quality. As other here mentioned, different cartridges will give you different results.
As far as your Shure V15-typeIII, you do have an excellent cart, and well suited with your MK2, although the Shure V15IV would be even better.

In looking for an upgrade in cartridges, look up at some Grado, Ortofon, and AT to name some.

You can also think about a different tone-arm if looking for a major upgrade, although the best/cheapest route to go, a different cart...
At the end, it's up to you, but your MK2 is one excellent table, still is...

North Bay is not that far to go to the GTA for an audition. Make it a weekend getaway - spend a night, get an AirBnb on the cheap and go audition the tables you're interested in...better yet, take it a bit further to Dundas and visit Don Corby who is a dealer for both brands, and is one of the nicest audiophiles you'll meet. Plus, places to stay around the hammer are cheaper than T-dot too! Way better than buying blind...
