Say it ain’t so. I use tidal almost every single day. If they go out of business it would make my DAC useless.

Time for Spotify to step up to the plate with their long ago rumoured FLAC subscription. That was floated early in the year but nothing materialized.

Don't worry gentlemen, there are options.

At the moment I am really enjoying a classical music stream from:

I'm sure someone else will carry the torch and whoever it is I hope Roon integrates well with it like Tidal. Doesn't Spotify offer a high res stream? Also options like Neil Young's new venture may work out. There was also a French streaming service,(it started with a Q) that looked promising. Apparently, many preferred it to Tidal and when you subscribed, they offered you discounts on buying the actual download. Time will tell.

Qobuz, sadly is not available in Canada, although perhaps with ip masking it might be accessible. Never tried it.

Let's hope it got merged into another company through buyout or so. The world does not need this many music streaming services.

No kidding. The number of services needs to be reduced.
The same thing is starting with video streaming.

It doesn't surprise me. Tidal had aggressive subscriber tactics which I experienced. I had to complain to PayPal who in turn followed up with Tidal to refund me.... I had cancelled and Tidal were still withdrawing monies from my account, even after repeated emails to them. I never re-subscribed. And, I didn't really enjoy the quality of the stream either. My two truthful cents.

So just a quick search. Qobuz apparently can be used in Canada if you use a PayPal account. Whether this really works and there is no Geo blocking I'm not sure. I've heard that if it doesn't work you can email them and they can change some settings to allow it work for you. Some of the Roon forums a while back were talking of integrating it. The convenience with Roon is just too good. Let's hope.
