Hi all, I am looking for someone in the Hamilton area that can rebuild the equalizer/processor for my Interface D speakers as well as the crossovers, I should think that they require a rebuild by now, I had the speakers redone a number of years ago as the foam woofer surrounds had deteriorated.
Regards MC

Hi, do you find the EQ changes the whole spectrum of sound? Or just the bass?

I purchased these nearly 40 years ago and when you turned off the equalizer the sound would break up and stop. Currently the speakers are at my daughters and have been for a number of years. I am getting them back and now want to get them tuned up so to speak any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe the equalizer is an integral part of the system. I always referred to it as a processor as the speakers would not work properly without it, you could switch the equalizer off and on via a knob on the front. What shape are yours in?

Yeah the reason I ask is because I have a pair but never had the EQ. I actually have a wanted ad as we speak for one. The speakers themselves are in gorgeous condition.

When I find a tech for my rebuild I will inquire as to whether he could build an equivalent unit for you, I will let you know.

Try Dan Santoni. http://www.dtsaudioelectronics.com/about.html

He comes highly recommended by a large number of CAMers. If he cannot take on the job, PM me and I will give you the name of another good tech, albeit he is not in the Ham..... 8)

The EQ boosts the bass and rolls off on subsonic frequencies.
It has adjustable high frequency switch.
the speakers play fine without the EQ.

What I fail to understand is why I can't simply use another EQ and mimic the basic same Interface D EQ settings. What is a 6th order Butterworth type vs typical? I guess the filter part is as they say a sharp cutoff below 30hz approx. Can I use a parametric EQ?

If you have the original equalizer and cross over; Dan Santoni of Black Dog Audio could most likely clone these items.

Note:Dan is a busy dude who may or may not want to under take this project.

byefi please contact Dan Santoni as he would be interested in cloning my equalizer, please contact him directly about doing the work. I will be removing xcovers this week to deliver them and eq early next week. Good Luck on the rebuild. I noted when reading the manual that these speakers could be custom ordered without the equalizer and that only 1 equalizer was necessary if there were 2sets of Interface speakers. That being said if you are interested in selling yours let me know.
