How many times can you repeat play a song or album until you are declared certified insane? And how many days should you wait before playing it again?

I just love Led Zeppelin- Song Remains the Same, cd version. (The concert dvd has mistakes in the performance whereas the cd doesn't) Particularly Whole Lotta Love as well as No Quarter, but I played the album yesterday and Whole Lotta Love a couple of times, the guitar playing is so darn good. Jimmy Page is/was the Best Ever! in his prime.

I want to play the album again tonight but I'm worried that that would be insane.

Have you seen “It Might Get Loud” with Page, The Edge and Jack White? Both White and The Edge light up with respect when Page picks up a guitar and starts Whole Lotta Love.

I could listen to the bass line of Les Claypool Duo De Twang - Red State Girl until my fricken ears bleed! Not his most technical showings but man, I just love it!

There's been days where I've played the same song five or six times and while I have a ton of music of all genre's that I listen to there are certain albums that are in constant rotation. I rarely go two weeks without playing my fav's. So call me nuts too.

Used to play a game in the car on long road trips. Select a song and hit repeat. First person to change it loses. I believe Black Sabbath Paranoid hit over 30 times in a row.

Wouldn't have made it through the first play if I was in the front seat.

I was never much into repeating songs, until I wandered into the KEF/Naim room at the Van. Audio Show last year.A song from Rob Wasserman's Trio album was playing......'Dustin' Off The Bass' with Willie Dixon.... my wife has commented ,'surely you have more than that 1 CD '. :)

Reminds me of when Sir Duke by Stevie Wonder was on the radio in the 70's

Every time my Mom started her car that song was playing on CHUM or CFTR. That distinctive opening horn bit is still stuck in my head.

I DO NOT like hearing the same music over and over.

Then my mom got an 8 track and we listened to the same tapes play over and over.

A couple weeks ago I put the Black Keys Turn Blue in my car CDP. It hasn't left since then, and that is mostly what I've been listening to for the past couple of weeks. Not insane. Insane would be putting on shitty music that you don't like and listening to it constantly. :P

Song (CD) - 5 times, tops.
Album (CD) - Maybe twice.

Song (LP) - Never! Not good for those grooves.
Album (LP) - Ditto.

And that's why I'll always have a cassette deck. 8)

And this is why I have multiple copies of DSOTM and Wish You Were Here not to mention having duplicated most of my Dylan collection at least once. :D

...after a 3rd playing of...let's say Dirty Work by Steely Dan...or The Last Recluse by The Hip...the wife comes down and issues an ultimatum...headphones...or change it up...I find her to be reasonable...especially if I'm weeping...and drinking.... :D

No, not insanity. Sensing blissful higher spheres instead. Who says music pieces cannot be experienced as wordless mantras?
