I recently upgraded my Oracle Delphi to MK 6 spec and it's astonishing. So much so that I'm starting to get the audio version of wander-lust wrt my Power amp.
It's an AR VT-100 Mk I, and has been very solid for many years. I'm starting to think impure thoughts about 300B amps and other things. My speakers are JMLabs Mezzo Utopias (92.5db sensitivity). Pre is a Moon P5.

I've seen a couple of Canary CA-330s recently and they've got me very curious. Also have a bit of a hard on for the Cary 805, but haven't seen many in Canada in recent memory. I also have a bit of a love interest in an AR Ref 75 SE or not.

Given a budget of 7.5K CAD - what's going to become of my VT-100??? Keep it, or replace it?

Your combo of Moon & AR is both great and interesting.
But would you continue with the Moon pre once you changed your amp?
That is the real question.
I am now running tube pre and SS amp and couldn't be happier.
Canary is very good gear and i too have been drooling over those CA-330's.
But again i think you are right on the edge of going all tube.
Heres a thought. Why not go with an AR pre .
Something like an LS-27 which is also currently available.
Cheers

If it were me I'd invest on another preamp, such as the ARC Ref 5.

I'd probably stay with the Moon P5 as I like the solid state pre into tubes paradigm. Have done the opposite and it was not to my taste.

Well then.
Something like this Cary 200.2 might intrigue you.

Nice amp, but it lacks the hot glowing bottle things ;)

I've got a nice SS amp n the lr system, want to go tubes in the 2 ch system. If I wa gonna go SS, I know where I'd be going (W8) but that's just not the goal for this system.

I have the VT-100MKII..
I have run both solid state and tube or hybrid preamps into it
and the best combos were all tube(LS-7) or hybrid (SP-9MKII)
There was always more 'magic' with tubes in the preamp.

I think the Canary's would be a sideways step..personally.

Sorry...for some strange reason i thought it was a hybrid.
Oh well.
I still think it would be an upgrade to go with the Canary monoblocs.
Cheers

Can you sell the AR for $2000ish, put it with your $7500, and say hello to this beauty:

There's two of them for sale, although this one is not marked "special edition":

my preference is also with a SS pre and tube amp. I found the opposite configuration, as well as hybrid, just didn't provide the tone that the tube amps deliver.
I recently acquired a pair of Manley Mahi's. very much enjoying these, however not so much in full range. Traded a Copland CTA505 with KT88's and found it to be fuller sounding in full range. my pre has high and low pass outputs that crosses over at 80hz, so my preferred set up is to run the Mahi's through high pass and for now integrated a sub. I'm considering a change and would drive the bass module with a Crown amp I have lying around.

A 300B single-ended amp is a worthy path to follow. I'd suggest talking to Frank at Triode Lab.. you won't regret it. (If you like the Cary 805, ask Frank about his FFX)

Keep in mind that some low-power tube amps don't cope well with 4 Ohm speakers, if that's the case you might want to look into an autoformer to change (double) the impedance the amp sees.

Interesting thought, but I've already considered selling my vt100 and using that towards the replacement.

If you want something with enough power, but more delicacy than the ARC.
