Do not need huge wattage, just a good sounding amp. Have Dynaco A35s and Monitor Audio MA4s.

Used pricing you could get Rega or Roksan. New pricing the only one worth owning under $500 is NAD.

Can you get a Roksan for that budget? I was late yesterday on an Audiolab 8200a for $350.

NAD 326 BEE. Check online for reviews. Has no phono but great value and sound. Unless you want something more upfront and lively, I don't think you can do better for anywhere near the price.

I've used it for about 4 years in a number of different combinations.

Yes indeed, they were the "Goto" amp in the Uk back when the 8000a came out. I have not heard the newer 8200a though, looking forward to it. There are still 2 on CAM at $450-500 still a good buy.
As I said the little Cyrus 1 and 2 are cracking amps, I would grab one if they come up - I know I will.

If you can get better for under $500 I'd need to hear it to believe it.

I have seen more than a few Kandy Mk 111's for sale lately on canuck and elsewhere for 4-500$. Incredible deal for a $2k retail amp. This is the only used budget amp I have heard that actually has enough power to do Rock, Blues, Electronic and other forms amplified music justice in the bass department when using a three way speaker. Lots of other great options like Rega or Exposure will sound sublime in the mids and highs with acoustic music. But may lack control of a bass woofer, at least compared to the Roksan.
For a two way speaker I would have to agree it might be hard to beat that exposure for the money.

I second Cyrus - you can find Cyrus III or later VS series also sometimes in the 400-600 range.

Cyrus is often partnered with Monitor Audio so should be a good match...

I know of Cyrus amps... they're just so ugly lol. There is a distributor of Cyrus where I live, he has posts on CAM for new units...out of my budget range tho.

+1

Art Dudley really swooned over this amp.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Lots of choices. Currently using a Kenwood KA 3500, which I have had for decades! Hoping whichever amp I end up with it'll be an upgrade and have the longevity of my Kenwood!
