I was given a family members Marantz Model 500 Amp because my family thinks that I "know about that stuff".

I got it hooked up, works fine, VU meters don't move but after sitting wrapped for 15 years that's likely solved with a cleaning. never rackmounted but it does have handles. Best part, front hatch door is still on, - and the lights work.

Because this is a relatively uncommon unit, I can't find many comparables to help me gauge a price. I have found a couple but that's it.

As I don't know what's what with the vintage stuff can anyone offer suggestions on what parts are important to photograph for the ad? I mean of course the front, back and sides, but is there inside stuff that a purchaser would need to see?

Thanks for your input, I've had some fun playing with it but it's better where it has speakers that are worthy.

sometime a little bit of oil can loosen up the meter. those meter are mechanical.it is a little spring that when receiving currant, the spring expende to move needle as currant go up or down. if you are lucky, it will be just a little dry. my meter on my 250 the spring is broken. so no more movement for mine.

at $3300 it will never sell. if it is in great condition, maybe $2200 to $2500 Canadian.
show some picture so that we can evaluate better.

They could very well be, and more than likely is if they were sitting for that many years.

any opinion, guess-timate on what I should list this for on the classifieds?

There really aren't a lot of things to compare it to and I don't know vintage gear enough to know what "state" its in.

Thanks everyone

meters not working and a few scratches, it should be rated around a 5 to 5.5 maybe, it will need recapping soon, because it still have original caps. you should start your offer at about $1600 can.
