I find the Spendor line more "modern" sounding. Midrange neutrality is excellent but not every model in their non-Classic line is as well integrated.

If I was going for a more modern open presentation I would listen to B&W or Focal first. For traditional BBC sound, it is Harbeth all the way. A good middle ground might be Proac or PMC in addition to Spendor.

I see you are a Focal fan - are you unhappy with the Harbeths?

I've been so curious about the pair on sale in Rimouski. I chatted with my friend that is Spendor fan boy #1. He told me the mids are excellent with that model.

If you pull the trigger it would be great to read some comparisons with your Harbeth speakers.

Oh right, I remember you posting an incredible picture of your listening room in Seoul.

Have you had a chance to listen to the Spendors? Your excellent Mac integrated should work well. Might I ask if you are missing the Harbeths why you are not looking at the Spendor Classic line? I am a huge fan of that series, especially with Naim electronics. The modern Spendor series are quite different sounding, especially in the treble, at least whenever I have heard them.

Since you are in Montreal, go stop by Coupe De Foudre and listen the Graham LS5/9 or for something much better than the Spendors and more suitable for tubes (in case you are considering that) listen to the Devore 88 or X.

Thanks hifikid... for your suggestions... here is a pics from S. Korea...I will give a try this summer for the Grahams... and add them to my list... this is a hobby... I buy and combine systems and, I give them away (borrow) to my family members (5 homes)... So, anywhere and anytime I go, I can have a listening... ;) In the other hand, buying new and after 2-5 years, they lost their value (30-50%... ) ... I prefer to wait and, give the time to the community to give their opinions/comments/critics/etc. Even though the transaction is not complete (final payment at arrival from Rimouski to Montreal 800Km ) I bought them... 8)

UPDATE>> Here are some pictures Spendor S9e Vs Focal 1008BE II
First love both... Splendor is perfect for bad recordings
Splendor needs more power than Electra...
Electra has ultra detail vs Super detail... like 1080p vs 720p...
Splendor has hard and heavy box... Harbeth is light like a feather....
I need more time to compare them.... also different electronics... ;)
