I picked up Eric Clapton's Slow Hand Deluxe (2 disc set) at HMV for $7.99.
I get 90% of my CD's there and the prices are not bad. Also, some great deals to be had.... :)

UK ebay marketplace - too many to choose at next to nothing prices. Ships faster from UK to TO than from BC. I bought many boxes and sets at prices better than goodwill.
A word of caution - you can burn an awful lot one quid at a time.

Thriller (special edition, remastered) - Michael Jackson, at HMV for $5 back in August. Sound quality is very decent.
Running On Empty (remastered) - Jackson Browne, at Walmart for $7 or $8, again very good quality.

Most of my CD purchases are either from thrift stores locally ($1-$3) or Amazon UK Marketplace sellers. The latter source works out for me as I usually have family making the trip back and forth fairly regularly or else we've been fortunate enough to spend our holidays there recently. A lot of of what I've bought has been priced at literally one penny, plus 1.26 GBP (roughly 2 bucks Canuck) for shipping within the UK, often for a 3 or 4 CD box set. Agreed that what I'm picking up might be a bit behind the curve style-wise (a lot of chillout and lounge electronica) but I sure can't argue with the pricing. Some sellers even ship directly to Canada for a fairly reasonable price.

Go to Target, CDs are 50% off. Picked up Sheryl Crow, the Very Best of, for $3.75 plus tax. Enjoy her more pop oriented songs but some of the country flavour is really good. Sound quality is decent, some tunes very good. Also Red Hot Chili Peppers Greatest Hits for $8.00 (plus tax).

I hit Value Village, Sally Ann and HMV. I've been very lucky with a sale that's for support for the local symphony. There is also a few resaler's that I find some of the obscure stuff.

The best 2 bucks I've spent in a long time. I had to sort thru about 400 CDs' to find those 8 but it was worth it because most other thrift stores in my area are still charging a buck apiece for CDs'.

It sucks that pawn shops here haven't offered used CDs' in years. They've gone from selling CDs' to just DVDs' and now to Blu-Rays' only. Eventually they'll be out of the 'preowned media' business completely.

All of my music is full resolution computer audio files so anything I buy these days is a FLAC or HiRes download. Murfie.com, the online used music marketplace, is my favorite source for FLAC but they will also ship the physical CD if requested.
There are tons of $1 bargains in Classical but lots of good deals in Jazz, Blues, Folk and other genres. Among my latest buys for $1 each are two CDs of the Canadian composer Ann Southam's work "Glass Houses" and "Simple Lines of Inquiry".

EDIT.... their Murfie Gold membership ($25) gives you a $1 discount on everything. I've bought nearly 300 CDs in the past year, so it's definitely paid off for me. Without the Gold membership the cheapest CDs are $2.

Brother that would suck.

Pre owned media is a major seller at my local pawnbroker. You live to close to civilization.

Yesterday I got a cd copy of Pink Floyd's "Animals" - insert missing - disc only. No charge

Hi jcking

Thanks, I think, for suggesting murfie.com. This one could be dangerous LOL . They make it so easy and the downloads are pretty quick. I got a few last night already.

All the best to you,

Don
