How are you guys enjoying your DL-110 (or not?). Have you compared to a DL-103 and/or 103R? Pretty positive feedback out there regarding this inexpensive cartridge. Looks like it would match very well with my Thorens TP-16 arm (Mk 1). What table/arm are you running your 110 with? I was running a 103R for awhile with good results (different table/arm), but intrigued with the 110.

It doesn't seem to matter what arm I put that sumbitch on, the DL-110 always sounds great.

OK, I going to get one right now. Why is it more exciting to order something like a 110 over something 3-4x the price? Just feels more sane I suppose. Sanity is relative, but I feel that I need to return to a more basic, simplified audio system - sort of like I had 30 years ago when it was really fun.

The beauty of the DL-110 is that it basically costs the same as 2 tanks of gasoline. It's a no-brainer. Hell, it was even outstanding on a cheap-ass Technics belt-drive. Wanna raise your game? Denon DL-110...

We sell Denon where I work and we had a DL110 kicking around that a customer never picked up. I scooped it up and tried it out on an Empire 598. I was so bloody impressed by that cartridge I just had to try a 103r. It should be here next week.... I can't wait!

I think a lot of us feel this need. Some of us have spent a lot of money and got the odd feeling that we enjoyed those simpler systems from 30 years ago more. It is so easy to go down expensive rabbit holes in this hobby. I have stopped doing that. I redid my hifi 5 years ago thanks to great recommendations from CAM and have been basically finished for more than a year now. Really just focused on annual replacements for cartridges for my tables (really pumped about my first Grado woody thanks to you).

Rusty's direct drive and Denon dl110 threads shows how many of us have gone down the path to more music than chasing some absolute sound. The latter is possible but it is not cheap. A decent reference quality table costs like a Corolla and the speakers, ancillaries and cabling/power products will be as much again. I look forward to enjoying these systems at TAVES this year but I have no desire to keep moving my own system in that direction.

I have had my DL-110 for about 18 months now, and it never fails to impress.
I always have 2 TTables running, my old faithful CJ Walker 55 with Linn LVX Basic and at the moment a Thorens TD 125 with SME3009.
I rotate 3 cartridges on both tt's , all costing around the same price, a Nagaoka MP11 Boron a Ortofon 2M Red, but I always come back to the 110.
I did have a 103 but found it too laid back for me and not a great choice on old LP's. The 110 seems to bring more life out of older records.

Hey Rusty I'm curious. Since I'm running a Red Ed now, how much of a jump was the DL 110 from your Red Ed?

I found the Denon DL-110 to be smoother in the high frequencies than the Red Ed. A little less congestion, if ya dig.

Yeah not the Red Eds strong suit. Cheers Rusty.
