hi there,

looking for standmount speaker recommendations for my pc/desktop using an old Luxman R113....so 35 watts only at 8 ohms (guessing close to 70 at 4ohms)

no dac as of yet, will probably get an inexpensive one later, something from fiio or schiit

was thinking of either KEFQ300 or B&W 685's

all input appreciated, please and thanks

I cannot vouch for whether KEF and Luxman are a good match, however, I can say that I am very impressed with my new KEF R100 speakers. Purchased for precisely the same setting as you - office system, near-field listening. That Uni-Q driver seems to a good fit for such a task. I have them mated to a NAD C352, NAD C542 and also a Sonos unit. Great detail, enjoyable at low volume listening, tight bass. Just playing with positioning now.

Are you going to be listening from your desk primarily? Are you planning on listening from there in the future? M audio has some very nice near field speakers, no amp needed.

Yes, there is a price diff. I was only commenting that KEF's driver design, whether Q or R series, seems well suited to the task.

Kef would be a better choice than B&W.
With the R113, thatll sound stunning.

Hello
I had a set of Monitor Audio Radius 90's I used with a L-501 and I thought they sounded great together. Can't say with the R113 though as I only had Paradigm Monitor 9's hooked up to it when I had it.
Good luck, J
