I'm looking for recommendations on biwire speaker cables in the $300 range (for an 8ft pair).

Mogami 3104 and Kimber 8VS are on the list.

Looking for impressions on those 2 specifically and any other suggestions.

I'm running Sonic Frontiers pre and power with Totem Model 1 sigs.

Try Rona or Home Depot, they have a large selection of wire that will more than meet your requirements. Won't cost you $300 either.

Never tried the HD cables but they get good reviews. Here (hear? LOL) are the instructions:

FWIW, I preferred Mogami 3103 in my system to Kimber 8TC and ended up selling the 8TC.

Both had been cryoed and burned in on a Nordost cable cooker.

I recommend Mogami 3104. You can get Gene at Take Five Audio to terminate it (various choices of connectors) or you can buy it unterminated from him either stock or cryogenically treated @ $7.00 to $8.00 per foot. Add some good copper spades or bananas and you're done!

Bulk 3104 may be somewhat cheaper from U.S. suppliers, e.g., Markertek.

If you want to try Ohno Continuous Cast (OCC) copper, Steven Huang at Audiosensibility here in Toronto sells a 2.5 metre pair of his single-wired Testament speaker cable for $389, which, admittedly, is somewhat beyond your stated budget.

I've had both the ARROs and FORESTS ... cables matter if you want to maximize TOTEM performance.

IMO with reference to your budget of $300:

(i) Look for a used pair of the TOTEM TRESS bi-wires ... that's what the speakers themselves are wired with.
(ii) Look for used CHORD ODYSSEY as an interchangeable proxy for the TRESS ... Both are silver on Cu
(iii) Top level ATLAS cables are arguably the best but may kick out past your budget.

For $300 you can find used Nordost Blue Haven or Nordost Red Dawn 8ft cables. Excellent choice for price.

If you really want to spend $300, get some White BJC in biwire config from Blue Jean (Belden) and then use the remaining to get a deep ear cleansing. Joke apart, the Belden are as good as it gets and worth a lawsuit from Monster.

Most of my cables have been in this price range of $250-350 (used). Originally Straight Wire level ll, then Audioquest, Cardas Quadlink, and then back to Straight Wire Level lll Encore. The Encore ll in current service is bi-wire shotgun, so two lengths to each speaker. This is a very nice, balanced cable that offers good detail and transparency, with a slightly soft top end. It is my favourite cable to date. I was enjoying the Cardas for a few years, but found it to be overly dark with an undefined low end, and a bit veiled in comparison to the Encore ll. Level ll (and sometimes level lV reference grade) Straight Wire cable can be found for about $300. Of course, these comments are all in the context of my specific system and the synergy/lack thereof offered with the other components.

Both excellent choices but they might be too lean for the Totems. At that price point it would be the prior series - the newer Leif series is a better choice but will cost more and has been hard to find used. Even Kimber might be a bit lean. I like the Linn and Atlas Equator for my B&Ws that, like the Totems, can sound a bit lean and bright if not partnered carefully. If you go Linn, avoid the Linn connectors. I used Furutech.

I will chime in. Forget the biwiring. Look for a used pair of Acoustic zen Satori. A very open but smooth cable that will take the edge off the totems. At your price point a good single wire cable will significantly outperform a double run of a lesser cable.
