Yo dudes...I am considering a cartridge purchase & I'm tempted by the Denon DL-110 MC cart. I would be interested in impressions, be they good or bad, from fellow CAM members on this unit. I've been sick as hell all month & deserve a treat. Damn you Norovirus :!: :!: :!:

Yo Rusty! It is a pretty good cartridge for the money. I had one for a while, then sold it to get a DL-160. I think the 160 is quite a bit smoother sounding, but the 110 is damn good for the money. Get better, and stop drinking out of that well.

I had a Denon DL-110 on a Clearaudio Emotion w/Satisy arm and to my ears it sounded great (since sold the table and cartridge). Smooth and nice bass. It wasn't overly intrusive for surface noise either. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a decent priced cartridge. I found it better, to my ears and musical taste, then a Goldring GL2200 I also have.

Thanks boys, so far so good. I can score one for about $145 & the specs check out with both my tonearm and my phono stages. Getting an itchy trigger finger...

Heya Rusty, is that a HOMC, high output? If not make sure your system can deal with an MC, moving coil cart. Not sure what you are using for a pre-amp.

I often see the Dl-110's going for sub $100 used, might be a way to save a little bit more.

Myself I have not heard it, but from all I have read it's a great entry MC cart. I think you can also find a DL-103 for about $125 used pretty consistently.

Cheers

I had a 110 briefly, then traded up to a 301. The 110 is a bright, punchy, sounding cart that'll liven up a dead system. Like all Denons, it's precision made and a great value.

If you liked the Red Ed, Rusty, you'll love the 110. Same bang for the buck but at a much higher level of Red. :D

Thanks Rusty. Some of the US guys like LP Gear were not shipping these to Canada for a while. I ended up scoring a Denon 103 off of a CAMer instead.

I've had my eye on this one for a while now for my turntable. Please post your impressions when you get it.

i'm quotng myself from an earlier thread...
"have been using an sl-d2 for a while now, replacing a goldring gr1. it came with a sure m97 something which sounded great to my ears. i then bought a denon 110 and couldn't be happier. in my opinion, it sounds way better than it has a right to. i listen to heavy metal, blues and 70's rock, and am completely satisfied (for now anyways). nice and smooth with a decent bottom end.
it's going into a cambridge audio 640p"
hope this helps a bit

I got mine from this guy about 6 years ago, straight from Japan. Even the box/booklet was in Japanese.

Doesn't seem to be one listed at the moment.
