the original ad for $5500
http://www.canuckaudiomart.com/details/ ... tand_mint/

the newer ad, different seller, with 2 of the same pics as the ad above, for $2000
http://www.canuckaudiomart.com/details/ ... and_mint_/

the second ad has been up for a few days now. something very wrong here.

The postal code puts him/her/it about 7 blocks away on Fort St in an area that is a mixed residential and office use zone (afaik).

Anyone know the user?

Looks very fishy indeed. The newer, lower priced seller only registered on CAM yesterday, has no feedback, is asking less than half the price, reusing the identical ad and pictures and only accepts money orders. The original seller accepts PayPal. Anyone want to risk $2k???

Good spot Corby!

Maybe the seller got a sniff of what it is really worth?
Or likely to fetch?

That might be plausible if the situation was reversed yournamehere. The original seller is asking almost 3X the price as the new seller, has feedback (albeit old) and is using a far more secure payment method. The newer seller is the one who is asking much less, has copied the ad almost entirely, has just registered, has no feedback and is using ONLY the payment methd most by scammers.

The seller has a few adds, the technics tables look a bit too cheap to be true

I also noticed the technics table prices as not typical.
Especially the new in box never opened 1200 mk 2 table.

PS WILL SHIP TO ""ANY STATE IN CANADA"".

All the best Les

To steal the pics alone is reason enough to suspect a scam. Good work cammers.

The BC seller, Bhootnut, is well established on Audiogon. I would definitely suspect the other seller of fraudulent behavior.

Cheers,
Richard

The original seller Bhootnut is well established and only sells near mint equipment on Canuck and Audiogon. I warned the Moderators yesterday as soon as the second potential scam ad went up but nothing has been done as of yet. Buyers beware ******

Thanks to your reports, folks, we're on this one. The second seller has a few hours left to reply to a challenge satisfactorily. So if you were thinking of going for that turntable, maybe better to wait a little.

I hope that challenge comes with the backing of the RCMP.

I also reported this as a scam yesterday by using the "report problem about ad" tab in ad. I did not get a response from admin. Why does scam ads must go on forums before they are looked at?
