Avatars that contain derogatory text, or suggest a negative opinion of other members or even real life people and organisations are not welcome on the site and we are asking members to remove them. I have instructed the moderators to contact individuals with such avatars, I hope you will cooperate in this request.

As a reminder, we have the right to ask anyone to remove avatars, signatures, or other content that we feel does not fit within the spirit of the rules and our ideals of the site. Please respect this and respect each other and focus your energies on the love of this great hobby.

This is not a democracy, this is a private site. We all have two options, live within the rules the site owner sets, or move on to a different site. :)

I can only speculate as to a certain type of avatar that will no doubt be deemed offensive.

What is there to speculate about? The Dec 6th, 2009 revised forum rules are very clear on this subject:

Admin in Forum Rules wrote:
A6. Avatars. An avatar is visual identification. It should not be used for other purposes, e.g. promotion, criticism of others. Avatars should be tasteful and not offensive. Please do not use avatars that contain nudity or highly sexual imagery.

No worries Vince, I know precisely what CAM members Avatars that you will find “offensive” I was merely being facetious on my part. It is sometimes difficult to convey sarcasm on an Internet forum.

My avatar says: "This Machine Kills Fascists". You had better order me to remove it as it: "suggest(s) a negative opinion of other members or even real life people and organisations."!

Are we done here? That was a little dramatic, was it not??

PeeBus, if you truly can't respect the wishes of the owner of this site, let me know by PM. Be prepared to explain how you think CAM would be a better place if we allowed offensive Avatars. Let me know how much these offensive avatars would enrich your knowledge of audio, how much they would add to this hobby of ours and how much they would improve your experience here on CAM.

Maybe we should make people use photos of themselves as their avatars . . . wait, in my case that would be offensive but I digress. :P
