As you can guess I am not a talented DIY but I thought I could easily swap old drivers in my old towers. I removed all screws from bass driver but it won't come out. These towers are heavy, tried to get them face down to use gravity, nothing will do. Is there a trick or a tool????

Thank you

Sometimes using 2 small srewdrivers or anything that may have a narrow point inserted in the screw holes, one on each side of the driver will help you loosen the speaker frame enough to make it come out freely. Be carefull not to puncture you speakers though....don't ask me how I know....................................

And make sure that the two wires connected to the driver are long enough so you can freely take the driver out, especially if they're soldered. Don't ask me how know.

If you find some type of tool with a hooked tip you can slip it through the bolt holes in the frame and hook the frame towards the outside. You should be able to lift the woofer from the cabinet.Try this one hole at a time going around the frame until it pries up...If no hooked tool then use a flat blade screw driver and try to pry up from each frame hole with the blade under the frame and pulling upwards..If you try to lever the blade around the edge of the frame you could damage the cabinet..BTW what brand of speakers?? Some manufacturers have used foam gaskets under the woofers for a seal which may have deteriorated and become sticky..Or they used a sticky putty which will give some trouble when trying to remove woofer..

If it is a rear bass reflex you can usually push the driver out through the port.

Most of the drivers in wood cabinets have a gasket material between the woofer, and the cutout, as the others suggested you might have to pry the driver off in some way.

Ensure you mark the terminals on the driver so you end up with the correct polarity upon replacement...Good Luck...

Thanks, it was harder than I thought, ended up using two screw drivers and bending-pulling a little...due to age and pressure applied all these years some chipping occured when removing one woofer. no big deal as it is underneath the driver. Thanks
