I had a phone call a few months back from a guy in BC who is making interconnects from "vintage" wire. His company is avunleashed and the cables in question are called Pura Vida. Means pure life in spanish. Stephen asked if I was interested in trying a set to see what I thought. There was no obligation to buy so being a good Winnipeger who enjoys free stuff I agreed.
When I received the package with the cables I was not blown away by the cables visually. They are very minimalist looking without any Techflex or heatshrinking to be found. they are terminated with Eichmann RCA's and the cable itself appears to be cloth covered vintage wire.
When I hooked the ic's up I WAS blown away sonically. I won't go into a long winded review that sounds like every other cable review other than to say it sounded like I had come in from the cold and taken off a wool scarf from around my ears. It was April in the Peg so I guess it was possible that I was still wearing a scarf but after checking I found the source of the improved sound quality was the cables. The Pura vidas were to my ears a very different sounding animal. The words that come to me are: open, natural, lush. They are like silver IC's without the brightness. I A/B'd them with some Ultralink entry level cables and there was a huge difference. I did the same with some Ultralink Platinum and still heard more through the Pura Vida's. For more info on the company and the cables go to http://avunleashed.com/pura-vida-cables.php

I have been told that balanced cables are available

So I would like to pass these cables around to members of CAM who are interested with the same set of guidlines as other demos: one week and you pay the shipping to the next person on the list.

The introductory price on the IC's is $599 pr.

$600/pair for "vintage" wire, now there's a new angle....forgive the skepticism but jeesus I think it's time to build a cable cellar so that my grandchildren can sell "aged" cable and get rich from my legacy.

Sign me up for the Demo please, I'll put my best bell bottoms on for the listening session.

Just wanted to give this thread a bump.
If anyone else is interested in giving the Pura Vida Interconnects a listen, let me know. There are no strings attached. Just looking for a few CAM members to give an honest evaluation of what I think are some fine sounding ic's.

Kuka........any thoughts so far?

Guess it's tough to get people excited about old wire.

Yeah, tell me about it. I was in a bar the other night chatting up these cuties and they were not interested at all, but that is another story

We have had a set of these ic's for sometime now and I can tell you that they take a LONG time to break in. In excess of 200 hours but once broken in they do offer greatdetail , air and imaging. Top to bottom balance is very good . The look is stark but at the price they are a must audition.

I agree %100
Luckily Stephen at avunleashed put about 175 hrs on them and I put 50, so they should sound pretty good

Another good demo.
Put me on the list. I recently got some very, very nice cables from Moray James and I'm very happy with them, but I'm always up for comparing some nice cables. :O)
