Hi,

I Have a Forte model 3 and I have a chance to get a Nakamichi PA7 for a good price. Is one going to sound better than the other? I have Magneplaner 1.7s with the REL T9i sub. Any opinions?

Hi B-Rad9,
The PA-7 is a nice amplifier. It's is a Stasis design, but cleaner than a Threshold amplifier in construction. They are very, very reliable as well.

As for sound quality, no one can really answer that but you. I can say that the Nak is an excellent choice. The main difference between the series 1 and series 2 amps is that the protection network is backed off on the later model. Some of the first ones were modified (factory modification and parts kit) to be the same as the series 2 amps. I did quite a few amplifiers for this modification.

Your speakers wouldn't cause any problems with the original protection circuit, so don't even worry about that.

Best, Chris

I had a Nak PA7II for a long time, it outlasted many a pretender, it final bit the dust after many years... but it was definitely my favorite for a long long time...
Go for the Nak....

Hi Tutone,
Couldn't be fixed ????

There is no reason why you shouldn't be enjoying that amplifier right now.

The nakamichi is a classic for sure. If the price is right just buy it and you will quickly be able to determine which to keep.
