Not sure how many of us have one of these delightful amps, but it's just hit the mainstream audiophile press with a glowing review from Herb Reichert in this month's Stereophile. Interesting to read his experience with different speakers including the Falcon LS3/5A and KEF LS50. I would have thought the LS3/5A not efficient enough to work well, but apparently they are a good match.

The Line Magnetic amps have little trouble driving the ATC SCM 100s which is generally known to be a difficult to drive speaker (so is the KEF LS-50 for that matter). You can read my review of the LM 219IA here http://www.dagogo.com/line-magnetic-219 ... ier-review

I am glad the big guys have finally discovered Line Magnetic. The 518Ia is about the same power as the 219IA although the 219IA has significantly beefier power supplies. The 518ia is probably the better choice in a sense to review because there is a lesser market for the significantly heavier 219IA and the greater expense.

Still if you have the bucks, the room, and the muscle (55Kg)- the 219IA is still the one to get IMO from this company. 518IA left - 219IA right.

Are there any dealers in the GTA or surrounding area that have Line Magnetic to demo?

Last place I heard Line Magnetic was at an audio shop not far from Place des Arts in Montreal. Haven't seen any since! the 219IA looks amazing.

A kind of "Modern Industrial" look for sure.

I got mine from Coup De Foudre in Montreal. They shipped to Ontario although I had to help the courier bring it in the house. 77 lbs I believe. I've been tube rolling, adding a NOS Mullard Britain 5AR4; Shuguang Treasure 6CA7-Z; RCA NOS 12AX7's. Haven't tried any different 845's yet. I have been running the amp through Monitor Audio Silver RX6's but recently switched to an open baffle setup which is still breaking in. I'm totally happy with the LM regarding both sound and looks. The 219 is fascinating but would require in my case a total room renovation LOL.

Coupe De Foudre brought some Line Magnetic electronics with them to TAVES last year. Perhaps they will again this year if they are attending. That would give GTA audiophiles an opportunity to hear them. I was very impressed by the system they were used in last year at the show, but hard to say if it was the amps themselves or some other component in the system that was responsible for the overall sound.

Stereophile have listed the 518 in their 2015 Class A category for integrateds. Always to be taken with a grain of salt I know. Still not a bad performance for a mid-priced component.

And not bad for a Chinese manufacturer! 8)

Tim Smith bought his 518 from CdF as well. He reviewed it for our site last year.

Does anyone know if the below site is legit? I assume it would only be about 6k for the LM-219IA delivered to Canada.

http://china-highend-hifi.com/LM-219IA,%20En.html

The LM-805A looks very nice

That review cost me a month's pay.

I've seen a few of those Chinese sites selling LM stuff, and the prices are indeed tempting. You read good stuff and bad stuff about sales from Chinese sources and it's a bit of a risk. Still the savings might be worth the risk. Only thing to watch out for is the amplifier will be 220 Volts. A step down transformer may or may not compromise the sound, I don't know. However, you might, on your own, or with a qualified electrician add a 220 Volt circuit which would solve the problem.

According to LM's site, it is NOT an authorized reseller so I would avoid.
