The Seller 'totally' lost me...
After the very, first three (3) words of his Item Description:

"For sell is..."

I know F-all about Altec horns or the other components used within this project so will not comment on the value. But I will say that everyone has a right to sell what they want at what ever price they want without being ridiculed. Obviously the CAM market rules needs to be followed to which I see no wrong doing with this ad. Perhaps the moderators can chime in.

OK but we can still discuss the dodgy ad.

If I was in the market NOT to sell my speakers, this is how I would do it!

 ...brilliant!

is it?

what happens when wife realizes hubbies hobby is a "22k" investment?

gotta admit tho, that's some nice components.

I am speaking from total ignorance, so please forgive me. Granted the components might be top-shelf, but what about the execution?

Does not a cabinet/crossover design require a lot of testing, anechoic chamber etc to justify that type of value? Anyone could buy a Porsche engine and proceed to install it in a badly engineered chassis. That is, unless the design was taken from a well established designer's plans.

And then if the design is proven, the last thing is the quality of construction. Speaking for myself, no matter how much cash I have I'd NEVER give this guy any money on those terms.

Anyway the ad is a bit of a joke if the seller actually expects to make a sale from this. On the other hand people that might be interested in his components if sold separately. At least if they are functioning they are a known entity with a somewhat estimated value.

Empathy for the seller here. I dread the thought of selling my speakers and the line of people that just want to listen to expensive stuff. Knew someone that refused to allow auditions unless they showed up with the cash, all of it, and a big enough truck.

It's true that people can list their equipment for whatever price they wish. It's a free market. Please note that the seller is a long term member with 100% positive feedback.

If members feel there is an issue with an ad listing then report it using the link in the upper right hand corner of the ad. Moderators will look into it. In this case a report has already been made.

Ridiculing an ad in the forums isn't constructive and so this thread is locked.
