Hi,

I am wanting to upgrade my tuner upstairs from a Pioneer TX-6200.....and maybe neither of these do that?

....I don't know!

But I have access to the Luxman and Sansui....both original but near perfect cosmetically and operationally sound.

There is a price difference between the two of about $125....the 717 being higher.

Thoughts??

Greatly appreciated!!

Thx

I also have a Pioneer TX-6200 that I have been using for the past 30 years. It still works fine. I have since replaced it with a Pioneer Elite F-91 and a Pioneer TX-9500 which have a little better sound (more dynamic and better bass) but not by much. I also have a Luxman T210L but not the one you are looking at. I find the Pioneer to be a little more sensitive. I have no experience with the Sanusi but it and the other Luxman have good reviews.

Given the choice I would go for the TU-717. This is not based on experience but reviews and personal styling choice. The tuner info centre says the T-88V is a rather basic tuner and that the TU-717 has audiophile caliber sound. It would be nice if you could listen to them both first. There is a really clean TU-717 listed on CAM for 550 dollars and I would love to buy it but this seems a bit expensive although it has been aligned and serviced etc.

Thanks Albert! My research (although not in great depth) certainly does show the 717 getting a TON of love out there. The T-88 less so but it seems to get extra marks for aesthetics (personal opinion of course).

Thanks TH - I can actually see and listen to the 717 since it is local....but the T-88 is at a distance and I won't get that privilege.

....one chap indicated that the 717 would look a little kooky next to my Luxman L series amp and for that reason alone I should keep it in the family.

....not a big deal to me....the Pioneer doesn't look like my Luxman amp either...although it is more similar then the Sansui for sure

....the sound and performance is more important to me then the matchy thing.
