I'm not sure if this is the right forum I'm posting this on.. but I will give it a try
I'm looking for a suggestion for a good am/fm radio that has great reception especially in the fm band, I know these are getting harder and harder to find and I'm not even sure if you can still buy a decent one
If you have one for sale please let me know or a recommendation would be great

Thanks

I have read that the ..C Crane am/fm is a good radio..but it's $135.00
That seems like a lot of money for a portable radio to me..I just want something decent for the backyard
The problem is I'm in a area with poor reception, So I might have to pay that amount to get something decent

Have you tried looking for an old 'boom box' or something like that? Kijiji would be a good place to look for something like that.

For a portable with decent sound and not a lot of money is the Grundig S350. It also does shortwave and is fairly sensitive so it can pull in the stations. I bought mine around 10 years ago and it still works great. It does drift a bit as it warms up but other than that I have no complaints. It is a good analog radio with a digital display.

The Sangean PR-D4W compares very well to the CC Radio 2E and the Panasonic RF-2200 on FM....and AM too.

Review here.

We bought a Crane CCRadio-EP for a senior relative and it has been a disappointment. It seems to have tuning issues that cannot be resolved but, to be fair to Crane, my troubleshooting has been done over the phone. There are some bad reviews on Amazon which I would read before buying one.
I have a Sangean WFR-28 internet radio, which also has excellent FM but unfortunately no AM. Based on this radio I would certainly consider some of their AM/FM models.

Then there is the small and simple Panasonic table radio which works great for what it is. Usually available at London Drugs.

I have a Teac portable radio in the bathroom that has been on 24/7 for probably 7 years or more. Surprising full sound for the $70.
I also purchased an iHome clock radio in December that took a crap yesterday. A screeching buzz is all that comes out of the speaker now and of coarse i just passed the 90 day BB return; so that was $100 wasted.

I have a lot of radios. My go to travel radio has been the Sangean DT-400W.

Good size, good reception, decent speaker. It has taken a lot of punishment on the road and still works great.
I also have the C Crane pocket radio, but for whatever reason do not use it as much.

Keep an eye out for an older GE Superadio model.
They were known for great reception and sometimes you can find them cheap at thrift shops or yard sales.

Have you considered a remote speaker? I got one a few years ago that receives transmission of signal from my living room stereo...we couldn't live without it now :D

I think this is a great recommendation, it comes down to how you define portable though.
The GE Superadio is great in a lot of ways (best in class speaker, great AM, decent FM) but is pretty big.
When you load it up with D cells, it makes a good anchor. The good news is the D cells last *forever*.

I do not see them on the used market much any more. Maybe you have better luck than I do finding them.

The Sony ICF7600G has been recently discontinued and is a killer radio.
You can still purchase on amazon.com (with the exchange rate pain).
Buy it while you can, I expect you will never see a radio with that level of build quality at that price point again.

Ccrane.com has what appears to be a super radio clone CCRadio-EP for $80 US.
