Hi all...I'm looking for a repair tech in Calgary. I'd prefer someone that does work on the side, at home for example. I have an NAD receiver that needs some re-cap work I think.
Anyone you'd recommend?
Thanks.

I can recommend Tom, at Apollo Electronics in Calgary.
He replaced the laser transport that (I supplied) on my 20 year old NAD CD 515 player in September.
I had him replace the output capacitors and belts, clean/lube as well as modify the power cord to a Furutech IEC socket.
It has since been sounding like new.
I recommend being specific of what you want done, and maybe suppling some of the upgraded parts.

I had Plurison replace the output transistors and caps on my YBA Integre DT (they had exact replacement parts) a few years ago. Shortly after that, I acquired a Simaudio Moon W3 amp and P5 preamp so I retired the YBA for a while until I set it up in my bedroom system. It sounded harsh and distorted - so took it into Tom at Apollo to check it out. He resoldered a wire that was off the transformer but that didn't change the harshness at all and said it was all fine and everything checked out. I ended up sending it to Dan Santoni at DTS in Hamilton and Dan finally got to the root of the problem (bias was way off).
You could call the high end stores in Calgary and see who they recommend. I think That Ole Retro store has a tech on staff and maybe Turn It Up Records as well although I have no experience with them at all. I don't know of anyone that works on stuff as a sideline.
Good luck and let us know how you make out

I have had my tube amps serviced by Apollo Electronics when I was still living in Calgary. Good to hear they are still around!
