Today i picked up a vintage phono cartridge.
A Sony XL MC 2 to be exact.
It is something that has been on my bucket list for about a year.
Given this was NOS i was nervous about its performance out of the box.
Well got it mounted and it is spectacular.
Yaay!

Sealed all seams inside 1984 Klipsch Heresy, added 1/8 inch neoprene on all interior surfaces incl. motoboard, reset all drivers including new B&C 12CL76 woofers (anyone need 2K-22), built 10 awg cables, listened to Mozart. Then Live at Abbey Road season 1 on blue ray.

I bought a copy of The Absolute Sound & Stereophile. It's been a year or two since I've purchased either. I'm considering a sound bar.

Those speakers are amazing. Nice choice. Might not get much sleep as they are very nice sounding and likely to draw you into the music.

I got LPs: Combustification By Medeski Martin & Woods (double LP set) and Back at the Chicken Shack by The Incredible Jimmy Smith. Both on Blue Note.

Nice. I run the Concept through the Dynaudio DM3/7. Very neutral and even sounding combo.

Wow! I run Yamaha too (the much cheaper 700). I dream of the 2100. Perhaps once junior is out of university :)

Only had a short time with it today, but i achieved the goal of a detailed but neutral presentation.
Running it kind of backwards for now, with the Dyna's being active I connect the pre out to them and the speaker output to the sub. After some recovery I may look into Special 40's and move the the XD's to the streaming set up.

That could turn out to be a great setup. I demoed Contour 5.4's on the A-S2100 and it was a very fine system.

I still haven't quite decided if they're going to wake me up or put me to sleep. I could play an lp (I got a Trulift) or cd to fall asleep or put the Bluesound Node 2 on a timer. Or put an alarm on the Bluesound to wake up. I got them mainly because they come in walnut which none of the others like Harbeth offer.

Those Blue Note lps are going to be great if my Blue Note cds are any indication.

A brand new Innuos Zenith music server....

I will be loading it up with music and giving it a go today

Haha! , quoted my own post.... not sure I have ever done that without someone's post being with it....

I have the new Zenith up and running with almost a full TB of flax and hiRez...

I really didn't think this thing was going to best my custom audio PC (basically a caps 3 build)....
I bought it as it acts more like a one button appliance then a computer... this thing not just sounds better I would say it's the single best source improvement I have ever made.

I auditioned an Aurender in here and while I liked the interface I didn't feel/sense any difference sonically and just couldn't justify the price. A/B against my PC I couldn't tell the difference sonically but the Aurender made me realize I wanted out of the PC badly.

The Zenith was "less" money and sonically ( while some won't believe) smokes my computer.... it's actually quite hard to believe

A quartet of JBL 2118H (8" midrange drivers): 97 dB, 85-6000 Hz range, 250 Wrms power handling, demodulation ring. Also got four NOS JBL recone kits.

Now crossed over, in an MTM arrangement, to a 1.75" dome tweeter @ 1600 Hz on top, and to dual 15" woofers @ 160 Hz down below.

Crown K2 for the subs, Yamaha P7000S x 2 for mids and highs. DBX DriveRack 4800 for crossover, EQ and delay.

Calibrated microphone and measurement software from mini-DSP.

Plenty of testing and measurement yet to do, but already most enjoyable for listening. . .

I actually bought a total of 28 albums for myself. Then I packaged 3 or 4 albums into each of my kids' presents, adding a bucket of cash for them....they get it; give the old man his albums and keep the cash!

Even my wife got a few select albums. We are all music lovers so the "gift of music" is not a hardship; we even got Eminem's latest on vinyl (a great album btw).

Life is good.

I've a pair of the isoacoustic stands. I acquired two designed for subwoofers as they fit under my bookshelf speakers perfectly. Very happy with them.
