I just moved to a corner unit condo with floor to ceiling glass walls and while I enjoy the view from the 45th floor, it's an acoustic nightmare.

So far I only have a large oriental rug covering most of the hardwood floor and a sectional sofa which improve the acoustics a bit but I need a lot more. In my previous condo I used acoustic panels between right over the listening spot and the speakers and that helped a lot but I can't do that this time due to lighting fixture/smoke detector/alarm speaker etc.

My next step would be curtains... don't want to go with super heavy duty acoustic curtains though to keep a more elegant appearance so I'm looking for advise with what to get and where to buy for curtains and other options.... thinking also about bass traps in the corners behind the speakers.

Any other ideas/recommendations?

Thanks a lot!
Martin

Is it possible to have glass wall behind the speakers?

I used Hunter Douglas Duette honeycomb shades. Pricy, but great wife appeal and worked wonders.

I don't know if this will work and I posted this in my own thread, Michael Fremer in his Stereophile video has a huge pair Wilson speakers placed into a corner. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H07NpWk_Xf8 Not glass mind you, but have a look at the shorter bass traps that he is using. I then researched his page http://www.acousticsciences.com/products/tube-trap and this is the route I think I am going to try with my Tetra's against a corner with glass. They tube traps are not horribly looking but I guess it might depend on the size of your speakers if you see them or not. They are expensive but even Pete Townshend gives them rave reviews. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H07NpWk_Xf8.

Good luck but I am one of the firm believers that you can get any room to sound good.
