couldn't help myself when this popped up locally. Heading out to visit my daughter in Calgary this week so I thought it was time for her to experience a DD deck. She has been enjoying the Denon DP300f I bought her a couple of years ago but as with many millennial's she is all about the vintage.

Nice score! I'm sure she'll be tickled! What cartridge is on there? 2m Red? Have you been testing it out a bit just to make sure it's up to snuff?

Great job, Dad!! As one who is working with his three kids to get them setup correctly I laud your efforts!

Have fun! :)

it came with a Dynavector 4X MK11 attached. It seems to be in very good shape and sounds quiet. I have a Technics headshell here from the table I use for record cleaning so I'll take that along and set up the DL110 she already has on the Denon as well.
Gave it a good spit and polish this morning and played a little, but had to pack it up for the trip tomorrow. I was going to send her word and pics but my wife suggested I surprise her instead. Funny how she gets all excited that I spent $250 on a table for my daughter but would have got the look if I said it was for me.
I'm also taking along a spare dac, speaker cables and hook up for her computer and Apple TV; though I expect we will be listening to something off the table.

Sounds like you did ok! Yes, my budget for the kids is seemingly limitless lol! I got our daughter a Dual ULM DD this spring and was able to find a mint cartridge here on CAM for it. Its fun to search out a simple system for your kids. If she gets into spinning records I do have a couple Technics tables I may sub in. Maybe. :D

Nicely done mpublicover! That's a great deal on a great little table! Your daughter is going to love it!
I have bought each of my two sons used Technic's TT's. One has an SL 1500 and the other has an SL 1700. The SL 1700 Mk2 is what I was looking for both times, but these came up and I grabbed them. There was a speed issue with the SL 1700, but the fix I found on YouTube solved the issue (lubricating the pots, IIRC) and has been working wonderfully ever since, and they use them a lot! I went ahead and did the same to the SL 1500 as preventive maintenance.

BTW, I really like the feet on that table, are they original?

those are Audio Technica isolation pods. they came with the table as well as the record clamp, making it that much sweeter a buy.

Not sure I would use the pods. A nice paving stone or two would be my choice.

Hi,

Same pattern here. I bought a vintage Sugden Connoisseur BD2/A off CAM from a guy in Montreal a month ago and when I got it I set it up with an ADC cartridge and tuned it to taste. In July it's going off with us to to my daughter's place in Calgary. The Connoisseur is a bit of a mechanical kludge and quirky, because it's British, but it sounds quite good with a mid-range to marvel about and loads of Prat.

Cheers,
David Neice

She loves the table, though her boyfriend seemed to like it more in the beginning.
We walked down to a store for lotto and they had a small vinyl section. Bought
Sticky Fingers and while playing that her I could se her joy grow.
