REGA still is British and builds its products in GB.

Mr. Gandy quipped that the British do like building things.

Wonder how long they will and how long Rega will remain in British hands?

I bet buyout negotiations are taking place right now! Mr. Gandy has to retire someday.

The consumer electronics business will end one day, as follows;

Harman will eventually buy up and own every consumer electronics brand name and manufacturer in the world.

Through attrition, Best Buy will be the only surviving retailer of consumer electronic products in the world.

They will come together and have their big meeting at the CES show in Las Vegas.

Harman will show Best Buy the new line for the coming year.

Best Buy will not like the new line and refuse to buy it.

The end.

How would you define "consumer electronics brand name"?

You have a point...

Let's hope not. That's all we need is amplifiers catching on fire, turntables shaking themselves apart or speakers exploding!

Samsung quality, regardless of the product, is very poor. They lost me years ago with a crap plasma screen.
I like Arcam but this really isn't good news.

It has yet to be seen if the quality of Arcam will be affected. But there are benefits of combining resources from other Harman brands (or even Samsung!).

Samsung is a juggernaut of a company with branches involved in everything from military to medical equipment. They are world leaders in semiconductors and DRAM fabrication. Pull apart any piece of electronics and you will most likely find a Samsung component – or at least a rebranded Samsung component (looking at you Apple!!). One cannot sum all of Samsung’s products as being poor just from a bad experience. Guaranteed that new TV of yours has Samsung inside!!

I don't know but my Samsung plasma has been going great for four+ years now.

OTH don't get me started with what I think of the Harman group insofar as customer care goes.

I needed a new fridge and was considering a Samsung. Great price, full featured and good looking as fridges go.
The salesperson strongly suggested I not buy one. Too many repairs, hard to get parts and abysmal warranty service. They were dumping the entire line.
No doubt Samsung is ubiquitous but their quality hasn't caught up to their ambitions.

Whats wrong with Arcam? Up to this point they have had some pretty great sounding gear. I hope that they dont start going down hill due to this aquisition. I seem to remember HK having some pretty solid gear and then something went wrong lol
