I notice that a lot of the suggestions on here are for niche products that failed in the marketplace, some of them miserably, because no one wanted to buy them, yet many great products with very long product lives and strong sales like the Dynaco A-25, AR-3a, JBL L-100, Shure M-91eD, AR Turntable barely getting mentioned.[/quote]

My point being that they don't make them, or anything even remotely as good AND economical anymore.

how about Mirage 750's.
Don't know what they cost new but I a set a few years back that I paid $150 for and they were one sweet sounding speaker.
Odd shape cabinet and didn't have waf so I sold them.
They would great for a second or bedroom system.

One thing I loved at the time was my Sony Professional Walkman. For anyone that's still a tapehead it was hard to beat.
