I have an old Panasonic RX-DT670 portable.
It has bi port bi wiring.
separate amplifiers for bass and highs.
It takes 10 D cells.
Dual cassette and CD player.4 band EQ

I think it is 18 watts per side.

For the beach I have car stereo in a bicycle trailer
Very Loud.

Highend Ghetto Blaster. That's an oxymoron if ever that was one!

I had the big claritone 7980. 30 years ago, someone busted both back windows (one on each side) of the family wagon, in order to lift it. they only needed to break one window, but they somehow managed to break two.

the Panasonic biamped units are awesome. They also come with full remote and a motorized volume.

The speakers on them can be taken apart and upgraded. I've had the yamaha pc-8, the JVC PC-55 three-four of them, and the one I really wanted..way back then..was the Sony unit with three way APM speakers. that was a set of separates with a handle added in. It weighed almost what..+25 pounds?

That's the Sony FH-series. I still have my FH-150R on the other side of the pond. APM woofers with accurate(or acoustic??) motional feedback (AMFB). Their subsidiary Aiwa have similar midi components with flat woofers too and the feedback mike mounted in front of the driver.

I'm considering picking up one of these, but unfortunately it only works with AC power.

JVC Kaboom is still in production , very nice sound with remote , FM/CD/ Ipod dock and 12v DC jack so can run off a car battery . I have the older version CD/tape /aux line in , it's smaller but still sounds pretty good .

I use an AxiomAir N3 with 18 hour battery. It's similar to the Bryston unit above but it's a 2-way instead of 3-way. It's essentially a pair of M3 bookshelf speakers in one enclosure with a Raspberry Pi front end controlling a 150-watt amp.

Hi,

I don't know if anything you can find could actually be described as high end, especially since where you will be listening may not be a room or space that would be considered suitable for serious listening. I have used a JVC RZ-EZ38S at my cabin on the front deck. It has an AM-FM radio, CD player, and cassette deck built in. Came with a remote control , and can be plugged in or run on D batteries. Had two, another for my wife's office that she never used. Sold it in a garage sale 2 weeks ago for twenty bucks. Anyways, good luck on your quest.

Happy Listening, Craig
