I have used the HD 600's with a Musical Fidelity XCans, a Burson HA 160 and finally settled upon a Bryston Headphone amp. In terms of your price range I would suggest the Musical Fidelity or the Burson which both sound great. (the XCans can be bought for around 150 -200 while the Burson would be more expensive at around 400-450.

The HD800 is the King of these Headphones. The difference is in the overall tonal quality , the accuracy of the instruments reproduced , the extra width and height and length of the perceived soundstage around your head which is an effect created by the angle , size and tuning of the drivers.

The Sennheiser HD 600 and 650 in comparison lack bass depth soundstage depth tonal clarity and are in a different class than the Sennheiser HD800 sits in. The HD600/650 are good midrange headphones that have gathered a favourable reputation in the Headphone World.

But comparing them to the HD800 is like comparing Lambrini Sparkling Wine to Champagne.
