I saw April Wine in small venue.
I was so loud it was almost 100% distortion.

Motorhead at The Danforth Music Hall in 1980
My ears rang for a week

I saw Rush's Presto tour at the long since defunkt Maple Leaf Gardens. Keep in mind that if one were to design a building that offered perhaps the worst accoustics known to man, and the volume level the sound engineers felt was needed to fill the place, you get ringing in the ears. Since that show I never see a live concert and or jam (I'm a drummer) without ear plug. I used the 33db down plugs you can get at Shoppers Drug Mart.

after the blearing mess of Collective Soul last year I figured I was done with live shows. Received Colin James tickets at Christmas in the same venue and it was much better at an appropriate volume.

It seems a lot of these sound set-up guys are deaf.

I saw PJ Harvey at Massey Hall last week and it could have been a studio recording being played back.

I'd go see the Partridge Family if they were playing at a good acoustical venue.

Sorry you had a bad experience in the studio theater. I have seen the Garth Hudson Band , Lighthouse , Robert Cray Band, in that room and they were all fantastic with great sound. Awesome venue!!! D.R.

I agree about MH. I saw Buddy Guy there last night and the sound was incredible. There is not a bad seat in the house. I am going to see Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds there next month as well.

That's a shame, but a Sound Man will either make ys or break ya!

Unfortunately, its mostly 'ALL You will Remember' and tell others(Us),friends and co-workers,& if you are anything like me you will not go see him next time round?

Hard to believe a Musician of that stature, seemingly doesn't care about his sound-n-concert?
I've also never been there so not sure of the reputation of that venue, but in the early days of playing,'Loudness',covered your mistakes?.....Maybe he uses 'Hired Guns?,unsure of the songs?

Not sure of Tom Fogerty's age, maybe he doesn't care anymore?

Fairly recent Joe Bonamassa & Steve Earle concerts in London Town, were both very enjoyable, according to my tube tech Buddy,as well as his wife and another couple.

Maybe you can leave a message if he has a website?

Me,I watch most concerts, now at Home, giving Best Seat & Sound in the house,& there is never a line up for the washroom or bar!.....Same outside in the Summer!

Occasionally there has been the odd complaint to the(old) 'Sound Man',which was promptly addressed, afterwards, and was all fixed up for the next gig,Ha,ha!

One show,an output tube red plated(Yikes!),which necessitated a short 'Intermission' to change Amps out, however oddly it didn't even phase Gwen Stefani,& the Boys one bit!
..hey,The Show Must Go On!
EP Concert Kenny, tonight's concert,GENESIS When in Rome, disc 2....a Keeper for sure!

Saw Buddy Guy there a few years back.
Loved it but it was very short. Maybe an hour.
I know he is old but I didn't want to go again for one hour of a show.
Did he play longer this time?

Saw Rush's Moving Pictures tour at MLG. I'd swear my ears rang for 3 days.

He played about an hour and forty five minutes. Left it all on the stage. That was my 27th time seeing him and he has never let me down.

I saw George Thorogood several times in late 80's, early 90's in the Saskatoon Centennial. The one time, Sound was Over-driven & Distorted so bad, worst I've ever heard. Bad sound guy really wrecks the experience & reputation of the artist. Are some of these guys working drunk or just plain clueless?
