Janis: Little Girl Blue

Crank it up for a troubled and flawed powerhouse who burned brightly and died young.

Here is a trailer:

My PVR is set. Supposed to be some footage from Winnipeg in it.

Never been much of a fan, but will probably watch it anyway. I like a good documentary. Thanks for the heads up!

I think this was the one I saw on an Air Canada flight on their "canned" TV last week. Well worth the time.

while I didn't recognise any Winnipeg landmarks (not a resident...) there was footage of the band traveling on a CN passenger train headed to Calgary.

Festival Express ~ 2003 documentary about a train tour on CN with contemporaries footage from 1970.

Just finished watching it. Great documentary. Kind of from my era, brought back memories. Thanks for the heads up.

I thought it was great 'casting' to feature Chan Marshall aka Cat Power as the narrator and in the epilogue as well. Great doc.

Nice to see that Janice was so much more articulate and warm and sensitive than she was portrayed in the popular media of that time.

She did deserve better :(

Loved the PBS Janis show. Wish I had seen her live when I had the chance in college. Especially liked the Monterey Pop scene with Mama Case's expression while Janis sings. Used to use my laser disk of Janis at Monterey to show off my theater system. Played it loud by the way. I think she must have hurt her foot when she kicked that cylinder on stage.
