Yeah, that was my thought too.

- the show where our drummer puked all over himself and his drums while playing
- the show where our drummer took his pants off
- the show where our drummer sliced his forehead open with a razor blade to start the show, then bled profusely all over himself and his drums while playing
- the show were before the encore, our guitar player hit our bass player over the head repeatedly with a cookie sheet, while the bass player secretly sliced his forehead open with a razor blade
- the show where I jumped off our drummer's kickdrum, tried doing the splits in the air, and ripped the entire crotch out of my skintight bright red polyester pants
- the show where I fell down 3 times in the middle of a song due to drunkeness

I guess that is more than 5...

I ca see where you got your practice tasting beer (are you sure you weren't the drummer)?

I'm off for a Creemore Springs Traditional Pilsner--one of my favorites!

Colin James - University of Calgary circa 1989
Phil Collins - Montreaux Jazz Festival 1994ish - was visiting friends in Lausanne, bought a ticket, took the train, walked into the Hall which I thought was an antechamber because it was so small. Venue seated maybe 300 people; had never been so close to the show before - way cool
Jazz trio at Le Cave in Paris. Only lasted one set because of all the smoke, but great show.

Wow, Rory and Stevie, I would have loved a chance to see either live.

OMG...you were there too! How cool is that. We were at the same iconic performances. Lennon and Elvis.

I saw one of the very first Little Feat performances at Chaffey College Cucamonga/Alta Loma California. Maybe 50-75 people there. 1969? 1970? I another guy there said it was in fact their first concert ever but I can't confirm that of course. It was awesome to say the least. I saw the Mothers with George and Estrada earlier so I had an idea what to expect.

Don't have 5, but 2 really stick out for me;

The Kinks - At The Apollo in Calgary (The old Social Credit Auditorium in downtown Calgary)
Paul Butterfield - The King Eddy Hotel - Calgary

Happy Listening

Blind Melon - a pub in London, UK. Forget the name of the venue. Just before Shannon Hoon left us.

Bombino last year at Club Balattou, Montreal.

This is a great post, all these amazing shows to read about.

The Replacements at the Town Pump in Vancouver, I think it was 1987? Wild night, the crowd outside that could not fit in, broke in at the end of the night. The Mats were fall down drunk, and never played even one song from Pleased to Meet Me which was just out. Tommy Stinson passed out, then went up some stairs behind stage while the band played on. After many minutes of the band playing without him, Westerberg went up to get him. When they came back down, they swapped instruments and started playing Beatles covers, and invited some fans up to sing a few bars. Had to as the folks up front were getting crushed and some passing out and such. It was quite a night!

That's rock n roll!

I saw them again at the 86 Street pub also Vancouver, i think that was 91 or 92? They just ripped through all their tunes with unbelievable fury. Westerberg commented at the start that this would be a making good show due to the Town Pump show.

REM in 1983 at Commodore ballroom was a great show, one of my faves.

Recently Bill Frisell at Seattle Jazz alley last summer, doing his john lennon covers, and blew my mind! Who knew Frisell could rock out like Hendrix! I like all his music, but never heard him live like this before. We were sitting about 10 feet from the stage, dead center.

Jeff Mills and Derrick May at Lost in London, UK
Diblo Dibala at The Africa Centre, London
John Zorn's Masada at The Barbican in London, UK
John Reischman at Cordova Bay United Church in Victoria, Canada

I would love to have seen that show. Saw him a number of years ago at Harbourfront and all I can say is the man is a wizard.

What year was that Los Lobos show at the Masonic? I saw Los Lobos play that venue in the late 80s, but I can't remember if I caught Blue Rodeo opening for them. I do remember it was before the movie La Bamba opened in Toronto and I was hugely surprised when they played it during their encore. I also remember George Thorogood came by to see them and caused quite a fuss as he was escorted through the crowd.
