I have large collection of digital files, mainly flac, stored on a usb hard drive. a lot of them are are 24-192 files. I wanted to know if there is a music streamer around that can accept an external usb hard drive and play the 24-192 files. Most players seem to play up to 24-96 or require a toslink connection or other type of connection.
I'm open to any suggestions. Any help would be appreciated, I'm new to digital and it was pretty straight forward when I had my vinyl.

there are many.
Budget?
how would like to control it; i.e. tablet, phone, remote
starting with these parameters will offer the best suggestions.
this is a great option that will also allow for a better external dac

As far as how to control it, either a remote or via tablet works best for me. Budget wise, up to $3000. I currently have a Cambridge NP 30 that a friend gave me but it can't handle large external USB drives or play 24 192 files. I would prefer a streamer with a dac but would look at a separate dac and streamer but that's where confusion sets in for me. Too many choices and I don't know what components match up well together.

If you are looking for a simple single box solution the Sony HAP-Z1ES may fit your bill. Sounds great, handles 24/192 files plus DSD. 1Tb internal drive with an option to add a USB drive if needed. Can be controlled through it’s supplied remote or through a smartphone/tablet app. Only fault with this unit is Sony only guarantee’s a stable operation up to 20,000 files. I have pushed this envelope with mine and found no issues although your mileage may very.

I currently have an Oppo Sonica dac that provides the function you are looking for plus adds an internet streaming option. Only a third of your budget though so you may be looking for something higher end then that.

Auralic Aries is a perfect fit for you and it's a great product. Easy to setup and user friendly interface too.

The Femto version is elite but not necessary.
