I'm trying to connect my Breeze Audio XMOS U8 USB interface to an el cheapo Sabre ES9023 dac board using its I2S/IIS output connection.

This is the DAC board -

My USB interface uses an RJ45 connector to transmit the IIS signal. I'm using a short (4 inch) long cable, RJ45 Cat6 at one end soldered to the fly lead that came with the DAC board. I've tried to make each wire the same length. But I'm not getting anything out of the DAC. I have had output from this DAC board using the GPIO I2S header pins from a Raspberry Pi, so I assume it's working ok. I found a pinout for the RJ45 connector on my USB interface on the 'net (assuming it's correct), and have just emailed the ebay seller for this info.

There is no standard for this type of I2S interface so there might be some differences between DACs that have this input and the I2S output of USB interfaces.

Is anyone using an RJ45/HDMI IIS digital connection to their DAC that might have a few ideas/tips?

So I managed to get this working The trick is not to connect the MCLK wire from the RG45 IIS output of the USB audio interface, as per this :
