What other manufacturer offers free Windows upgrades and Android updates until the hardware can no longer support the software updates?

Every single one (win10 and android)

And Apple is the only one I know of the makes updates not available for older hardware, and then forces apps to only run on the newer updates.

it has been a while since I'v had either so i stand corrected. it used to be that you would have to buy the new windows versions and that new versions of Android were only available on new equipment.

A few facts you conveniently left out:
-The AE is a wifi base station capable of creating its own wireless network or extending an existing one. This is the primary function and allows one to create a dedicated network for music only if they so choose.
-Airplay provides for multiple receivers simultaneously, allowing for an inexpensive all home music system. I've played to 5 devices at the same time.
-provides for analogue and digital outputs
- 1st generation was introduced in 2004 and second in 2008; so they have stood the test of time.
can any of the other devices do all, or even any of this?
The support gripe only seems to come from Apple haters. Last night I updated my 4 year old iPad with the latest IOS and my 2011 MBP is running the latest OS. What other manufacturer offers free Windows upgrades and Android updates until the hardware can no longer support the software updates?

Why on earth would you want to create a dedicated network for music? Even if you wanted to do this for some inexplicable reason, the better way is to do it using subnetting,

I've had the AE, and it was meh. Actually, it was worse then that because at the time apple pushed out an update that disallowed it from acting as an access point with my DD-WRT network router.

I've done the apple thing, and the truth is it is inflexible. A better option for every problem exists in the open source community. I would never lock my music collection in the Apple jail.
