That's about it. I am in Manitoba, and we have nothing for high end tables here.
Thanks,
Dan

You should search the forums, they've had some harsh reviews here, I think.

Thank you all. Very helpful. By the way, out of the list, is there any seller that stands out for service and pricing?

I had Avid tt and I would never buy it again. Very poor customer service and parts are freaking expensive!

For service / support...My Kind of Music in Toronto stands out among the best within the Analogue domain. 8)

Too bad they are not closer in distance to you. :(

Happy Listening,
Francis R. :D

I've seen and heard them locally at The Gramophone here in Edmonton. They also demonstrated the Mac Turntable and they had a VPI Classic 3 as a trade I listened to. It's interesting to hear how they stacked up against each other and they all sounded dramatically different. The only thing that bugged me about the Avid was too much MDF used in the construction of the table, I prefer acrylic or aluminum platters after that demo. Shopping is 1/2 the fun with analog !!

I mean supports from Avid in the UK. They did not back up their products

I think the level of input / support from Avid, UK, would depend on a few things....what the exact issue was, where the table was purchased - gray market, etc. In all cases that I am aware of, firstly, the dealer would take the lead in resolving any product issues with the owner directly and if need be, Conrad Mas, the owner at Avid, UK, would be directly involved.

I find it amazing that people post negative statements that are really generic without explaining the exact details.

I think in general, most if not all manufacturers along with their dealer network are very supportive if and when problems arise with their products. This is provided that the product was purchased via authorized channels. In fact, some manufacturers have gone above & beyond the call when it come to offering support.

So I guess it just depends on the circumstances....

Just my thoughts...

Happy Listening,
Francis R. :D

fair enough if you want fact. I contacted Avid for my broken Avid Volvere. This is not the very old model - just one version before the latest one. Avid told me they could sell me the PCB and I could replace it. After a few weeks they contacted me and said they no longer carried that PCBA since it was the old design and asked me to send it back to them so that they install the upgraded PCBA that would cost me $2500USD and I had to pay shipping back and forth! Mind you, even it was functional that used tt probably cost less than $2500USD. I expected them to provide supports for their product even it is an old model. What should I do in this case? pay them $2500USD+ shipping cost back and forth? throw the broken machine away and buy a new turntable? Unfortunately I had to choose the second option. Note that none of local shop could fix it because it required some programming to the microprocessor that only Avid could do.

^ @ dungvn, you would think an authorized dealer should be equipped to effect that type of repair and that would be offered as a solution....

they did not mention the dealer. Plus according to them, I only had one option and that was the upgrade with a lot of extra money while I only wanted to have it repaired. With that money for the upgrade I could spend on a very good turntable.
