Nice looking table & arm too !
I like the idea of solid wood Plinth base , should be great arm as well.
I remember seeing the table on Audiogon , wondered why not sold faster !

Anyways hope you hear more out of your vinyl ....

Any chance you can take pictures with the platter removed

I believe 4yanx (that's his username on Audiogon) built this table Albert can confirm this

I think you are right, that is what I was told in the ad as well. He also made reference to Albert Porter in the build in some way. I can't find the ad, though, as it has disappeared after being marked sold. I wish I had saved it, there was a lot of info about the build in it.

pop the top off and have a look - the Lencos are very simple machines . the build will be revealed rather easily

Hi Albert, sweet table, I was admiring it on Agon also, nice to know that a Canadian scooped it up. I recall that the ad mentioned it was the product of three knowlegeable Lenco guys getting together, Albert Porter, Jean Nantais and 4Yanx.

I also have a Nantais Lenco and I just love it. Another buddy just got a slate plinthed beauty made by Oswald Mills and has paired his with a cheap Denon 103 and it (almost) runs with his Verdier/Moerch DP6/ZYX Universe which cost A LOT more money. Imagine if he puts a high res cart on it?

Check out this nice write up on Agon, you might find that the table looks familiar also.

Thank you very much mikeyc! That is my table and now I can bookmark the original ad for it! Excellent!

I bought some super glue today and am going to fix the arm wand. Hopefully it will stick together strong enough to be as rigid as original. Now to figure out how to assemble and use the air bearing tonearm.

I tried to superglue the broken plastic slide part of the tonearm (that rides on a cushion of air) but only managed to glue the unbroken wand (which is made of metal) to the end of the plastic slider. I was able to remove the wand from the glued on wand but not without breaking up the plastic. This seems to be a weak part of the tonearm. Oh well, I am sure I can find another part. There is a CAMer here who is offering a used one at a good price that he has for a spare (thanks Peter) that should work.

You can always call the arm manufacturer and see if he sells the stock part
Good luck and let us know how it went

Well, I got my replacement plastic part today (thanks again Peter). I also got the brass feet that was supposed to come with the table. The previous owner kindly mailed them without asking for anything. Great guy.

I had to remove the tonearm wire from the arm tube and route the wires and plugs through the new part. In the process I ended up breaking off one of the ends  , so I had to strip a little plastic off of the lead and solder the thin wire onto it. I then was able to rewire the tonearm and it actually worked. :D The turntable sounds great! Vocals really jump out ahead, giving a nice 3D soundstage. Lots of detail too (you can really hear each instrument separately) and the bass is really tight and punchy. Drums sound incredible. Highs sound clear and open as well.

I had to turn the sub off, though, as I was getting wicked feedback at some low frequency. My speakers were okay with it and they go down to 30 hz so the feedback must have been at a frequency lower than this (rumble). The table is on a flexy so I am not surprised.

I could use a little more gain than my PH3 provides too (54 dB) but the preamp is very quiet and it seems to work out well. I had the preamp cranked to 1:00 and the music was nice and loud with silence in between the tracks. I didn't even hear many clicks and pops. I guess it should be okay for a while until I get upgraditis again (for a step up transformer). Now it's time to listen to my records again. It's like having a new collection for free. And loving it!

That's what it is all about! Glad you are enjoying it. I get the gain issue too on some of my cartridges which have less than half the output of the main ones. Not bad in my little room though.

Albert,

Glad you're enjoying your lenco. Half the fun of vinyl is tweaking, adjusting, fine tuning, kind of like being a watch maker.

Thanks for the kind words.

I was thinking about using a sandbox, only it might be a little tough to level as the table weighs 80 lbs (kind of hard to lift with one hand while smoothing the sand with the other). Leveling seems to be really critical for an air bearing tonearm. I am still thinking about that sandbox, though. Maybe I can put a leveled butcher block in the sandbox and put the Lenco on top of that?

I have joined the Lenco Heaven site as suggested, lots of great info there.

As for mass, I already have plenty of that (the tables pretty heavy too).

FWIW for isolation I've used a thick butcher block with rubber cork pads underneath
This worked quite well

I use a butcher block under my Thorens TD-146 with 8 ttweights isofeet under the block. This also works well. I may try putting a butcher block on top of a sand box type of enclosure. That should deaden the vibrations somewhat. Sounds like a Christmas time project. :D
