Move on and repost it..Don t get your self tied up in sending messages etc. The buyer was a dead beat bidder. You get them
from time to time. By reposting it you may get a quick sale with a good buyer before you waste all that time trying to get the other buyer to pay up.

If you read the complete thread you will realize that I only sent a message to Howard...who needs to know...and am perfectly happy with the 2nd highest bidder taking the HRS Record Weight.

The OP has his plan going - it only remains to establish how the deadbeat will be marked and the rest of us given a heads-up. If people can treat others like this with no consequences CAM will quickly become an untenable market, at least for me!

In this situation, you should be able to leave negative feedback.

Not good enough... penalty has to be more meaningful than simply a 'slap on the wrist'... 8)

Auctions are currently in beta so the rules can be determined on a ongoing basis... 8)

Could you define what "refuses" means exactly? Did they flat-out say they wouldn't pay?

VF: I believe the mods explicitly stated, somewhere in one of these auction threads, that negative feedback is an expected and acceptable response to non-paying bidders (sorry not able to find the reference right now).

Whether there are any other potential or actual consequences, I'm not sure; we'll need the mods to weigh in on that one (or just continue to speculate).

Yes...he initially wrote:

" Hi,

I won the bids for HRS, I live in Toronto, but I am in vacation and outside of the canada, I would be back in Jul.1, and I want to pickup and pay cash ($170) in Jul,3 morning. save the shipping cost. are you ok?

Thanks"

I wrote:

"No...first of all the total price is $205.00 whether you pick it up or not...if you are able to pay via PayPal then that is what you must do.

If you have a problem with picking it up and paying $205.00 then just send me your address and I will mail it to you."

Alan

He then wrote:

"Hi, Alan

I am sorry, $205 is over my budget.

regards..."

According to CAM one has 7 days to pay for an item once it is billed...so payment in this case must be made on or before May 27th.

When completing the auction terms the seller has the option to either allow for pickup or not. I choose 'not'...the total fee paid to CAM is based on the selling price plus the shipping price.

Exactly. Can't let this site become the next eBay or Kijiji.

Make an example of the first offenders and the rest will fall in line. So, yes, every man, woman and child should feel the cold steel of the ban hammer until it sinks into people's minds.

The rules are there for a reason. You win.....you pay. Don't follow the rules, you are gone. There can't possibly be an argument against a policy like that.

If $205 was over his budget, why did he bid it?

Maybe this is another mixup in the system?

No mixup...I suspect the buyer either didn't read the shipping quote or thought it wouldn't apply to him.

Probably didn't read that he had 7 days to pay after winning either!!!
