I'm the happiest I've ever been with any audio setup. Recently I've been working on system matching (cables, tubes etc..) instead of constant speaker and amp upgrades. If you have a good pair of speakers it's worth the time and effort to try and get the most out of them. Now I'm excited for other audiophools to come and sit in the sweet spot......that doesn't sound so good.

I have never actually heard a really great HT setup in a home. I use my 2 channel and don't find anything lacking, plus I can switch to LPs any time I feel like. 46" Sharp LCD into a modwright pre, pass x-250, and Forests. We don't need no sub. Hockey games sound like you're on the ice.

She does Kick my ass when I turn her to THX-14 on the processor(Arcam AV-8)
Two superb Bluray concerts I like are Eagles Farewell I(live in Melbourne)
Jeff Beck(live at Ronnie Scotts)this disc will let you know if your sub is up to the task of producing an almost realistic drum sound(JL's were not)1812 SHOWTIME,superb midbass punch.

I have both of those concerts on Bluray as well, awesome... You would think that you would get sick of them but I have a rotation of about 20 concerts that roll through.... I think I have somewhere close to 100 but a lot of them I just find it's once and done...

My system is exclusively 2 channel but we watch a lot of HD movies from Express Vu and on Blue Ray so the audio gear gets double duty. I dabbled in HT back when it was ProLogic but tired of all the speakers and wires. I can't afford two sepereate setups so I went in the direction of a quality 2ch system. Current setup:
Rogue Cronus Magnum integrated amp
Magnepan 1.7 speakers
MJ Acoustic Ref 100 mkII sub's X2
Oppo BDP 93
Bryston BDP-1 BDA-1
Mass Fidelity Relay for bluetooth streaming internet radio from my tablet to the DAC
Blue Circle FX2 & Richard Gray Power Company 400 power conditioning
Atlas Hyper IC & Hyper 3.0 speaker cables Audio Sensibility Digital Cables
DIY power cords made with DH Labs Silver Sonic Power Plus wire.

I too love my ht/2ch. Setup! Music comes first for me but don't have a place for a dedicated 2/ch. in my home now. I have gone through many pieces of gear over the years and am very happy with it now!

-all music goes through a Cambridge Audio Dacmagic plus to
-Cambridge audio 650r a/v receiver powering the centre and surround speakers
-2-Bryston 3bst's bi-amping the main's
Main's- paradigm studio 20'sv.2
Centre- paradigm studio cc.450
Rears- old paradigm Titans (they do the trick)
Subs- paradigm seismic 110(two of them!)with pbk. I just love these subs! They don't get any love,I think because they look a little funny? But man do they sound good! So so fast! It dosn't sound like I have a sub sat system at all. They blend so well.
Cd's through a Marantz dv6001
All blue rays' through a PS3

I had signature s2's,sold them to start the save up for some v.3's and pulled the old 20's out of the closet for now..........but then I listened to some Bryston mini T's.hmmmmmmm! They sound so good but are so ugly! Still can't decide.
Oh ya just ordered on of those Yaqin tube buffers the op has. Thought I'd try it out. The price is next to nothin'.

Looks like a really nice, straight forward kit meiwan. I hope things are going well for you up there.
How do you like your Audia Flight 2 integrated?

In the recent past I did run a combo setup.

Pioneer VSX-1018 receiver
B&K ST202 amp for the mains
Paradigm Studio Reference 20's for mains
Paradigm Cinema 330 center
Paradigm ADP-190 rears
DIY 2x12 sub with 500w Dayton amp
Samsung blu ray
Panasonic 60 plasma
PC front end, HRT DAC
6 dedicated AC lines for the gear.

Now I run 2 separate setups but sharing the room.

All HT gear remains, but the 20's and B&K are gone and 3 330's are the front stage. The sub only runs for HT.

2 channel now Totem Sttaf's with a NAD C325BEE integrated with the same front end and DAC.

Both make me happy for what they do.

Since I don't use surround sound, the audio for my ht is a source just like for audio where my preamp connects to both. I don't see any compromise in 2 ch audio by also using it for ht. Whether I watch a BluRay movie or listen to a SACD, audio from my Oppo is handled the same way in the preamp.

Ditto—I also use a regular two-channel system for watching TV and movies:

TV: 40" Samsung LED screen, purchased 5 years ago, model reads like a long serial number.
TV Source: Bell Fibe TV
Local Sources: Oppo BDP-95 (for DVD, Blu-Ray and SACD); PS Audio PerfectWave Transport and Lavry Black DA-10 (for CD); Sony XDR-F1HD tuner
Preamp: Bryston BP-26DA
Powered Main Speakers: Tannoy AMS-12A for above 100 Hz
Passive Subwoofers: TAD TL-1601b in 6 cu.ft. ported cabs for below 100 Hz
Subwoofer amp: MC2 Audio MC750
Line Conditioner: Plitron 20A medical-grade isolation transformer
Cables: Mogami 2534 and DH Labs Pro Studio for interconnects; various unremarkable AC power cords
Continuous Output Capability @ listening position: 120 dB
