I have an original "mod free" Dynaco SCA35. I am looking to purchase all new tubes including the 7199's. Can anyone suggest brand, model? Also a preferred place to purchase.

Thank you.

Welcome to CAM!

If the electrolytic caps at the very least have not been replaced new tubes may have a short life if you lose a transformer:

Hi stevenmifsud,
Nice, original and not messed with! Score!

I would highly recommend Electroharmonix from either TheTubeStore or from PartsConnexion. I would match all 4 output tubes so it doesn't matter which goes where. It's just easier that way. You need matched pairs at the minimum.

7199's are expensive and not manufactured the last time I looked. I hope New Sensor decides to do a reissue. So you're stuck with with either an NOS pair, or pay for a conversion to 6U8. Just looking, 7199 out of stock and the recommendation is to modify the circuit to 6U8 tubes. They have a different pinout.

Capacitors need to be replaced, and there are some that can be changed to better types. Also, resistors are commonly way out of spec, so you are looking at a rebuild if you want it to sound like it did when new, or better than new. If you want better than new performance, now is the time to do it.
