Came across this pic of my favourite artist tinkering with his stereo.

if you recognize the equipment and not the artist, you're forgiven- it's Bobby Darin.

I don't recognize any of the equipment and figured this is the right place to figure it out.

the only thing I can pick out is the Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee Blues in my Soul LP

any ideas on what equipment (make/model) seen in the pic is?

Looks like an old Gerrard turntable on top.
Wow what a snapshot of Bobby.
I can't make out anything else.

Definitely a Gerrard turntable: the logo is blurry, but unmistakable.

Hi,

Scott, Garrard, and an Ampex on the floor, for sure. Shag carpet - what a hoot! You got to wonder what speakers he was using. My guess - AR3a - popular with celebs at that time. Around that time AR used to show a picture of Miles Davis relaxing at home while listening to his AR3a speakers.

Cheers,
David Neice

I am very impressed with you guys!
Ok, now, can you tell what he is listening to while he adjusts the control? Looking at the Garrard, is the needle on the record? Seems to be in the rest position. Maybe the tape is playing..but he is holding the album cover.
Great photo, nicely set up. Photo op, or reality shot?

well,
apparently a legendary musical artist tinkering with his stereo is inappropriate for CAM and the picture was pulled.

I'm not making that up...I just got an email.

Not sure who exactly made that determination... it's hidden under "moderators"

There you have it.

Perhaps a copyright issue?
