Until recently I have been using a Sansui AU-D9 integrated amplifier (bought in the 1980s) in a secondary hi-fi system in the basement. One day when I was turning it on, it flickered and died. Then there was the distinct smell of burnt electronics.
I love the sound and simplicity of this amplifier and would like to see it working again.

So I would like to ask my wise and learned friends in this forum a few questions. Is it realistic and advisable to have this unit repaired? Perhaps the better question is can this unit be repaired at reasonable cost? Reasonable to me is in the $200-$300 range.

Would somebody please direct me to a competent and reliable audio technician?

Many thanks to all!

It is hard to say what the repair cost would be without opening it up. I have all the ones in that series and the AU-D9 is my favorite despite not being the top model. Provided the transformer is good and the output devices are good the repair cost you listed should be possible.
Good luck, J

National Sound in Toronto give free estimates.
I have had repairs done there with no problem and good rates.
They are near the QEW and 427.

Also Alpha Electronics in Port Credit.
Hurontario and Lakeshore Rd East.
