Looks like the only opening is the bottom panel... Don't know when/if I'll get around to tearing them down though as they sound too good to be out of action for any length of time!

Usin Bryston 11b pre and kenwood kd650 and it's awesome :)

nothing written on the speaker label to indicate anything relative (model and serial #'s only)

the back of the amp has 2 sets of speaker hookups, 8-16 ohm and 800 ohm and the 800 ohm is what's hooked up.... byefi, I have the 11b main outs hooked to the Philips tuner in jacks, seems to be working great

Interesting. A quick search shows they are also produced as EL86. Cheap these days from what I see. 8)

You might wanna put an actual GZ34 slow start up rectifier. That 5U4GB looks a little unhealthy and even if healthy the voltage jolt can be somewhat hard on that old amp and rather complicated circuit kinda like bending a branch to quick. I'd even have it on a variac at about 100 volts for the next little while.

Got a stark 9-66, a dual 1019 and these grundig stereo mate 4 (haven't tried em yet) as part of the same deal, need to figure out the stark for sure!!

I've been using a 9-66 for years..excellent tester and is straight forward easy to use. If replacing all tubes maybe stick with philips amperex miniwatts or mullards especially the black and dirty on the inside ones for them output tubes..the best by far, bring beautiful weight to the music and of course telefunken for ef86 or tele ultra ef806s, then play with the ecc83's for sonic flavor probably with european vintage being the taste for the task!

You read my mind byefi, I'll be on the lookout for deals on similar tubes in the near future.

As luck would have it I found a new JJ GZ34 locally and swapped that in but yesterday I started to hear distortion on one channel and it's more prevalent now so she'll need some work!

I found a guy in trout creek but if he's not able I'll get making the trip to Barrie to see peter mc
