I recently acquired a Linn Sondek LP12 that has a tonearm I have never seen before. I've attached photos of the arm and ask if anyone knows the arm. If so, please send me a note about the arm. I want to determine if its a keeper or I should put in another arm.

Thanks in advance to all responders.

Why would you not try it out?

Yes I plan to give it a try before doing anything. Just want to know something about it. If its a low quality arm, then I'll just replace it. I have two other arms I could put in it.

Thanks for your note.

Looks like the Magnepan Unitrac 1 tonearm as made by the Magneplanar speaker people. We sold quite a few of that combo in the 1980's so it likely came from Stereo Factory in Thornhill.

That was a fast reply! Thank you Sgt. Pepper and Natalie.

It's a small world. Around 1980 l dealt regularly with Stereo Factory. I liked dealing with them.
