Canuck Audio Mart

I recently came across a tape deck that used to retail for $800 in the late 70's or early 80's: Vector Research VCX 600. Does anyone know this deck, or at least something about Vector Research?

Yes, I remember Vector Research all right. They came into the market in the late 70s at the high end of the consumer market in the same class as Nakamichi, SAE, Luxman and many other premium brands but never really caught on as they should have as the home stereo market had already topped out and was starting its long decline. Too expensive for the mass market, not high end enough to compete with Conrad Johnson, Mark Levinson, McIntosh when that whole end of the market litterally collapsed. Nice gear but unfortunately like most other gear of that era, pretty much an orphan now.

I've been finding a lot of vintage stuff lately, including a technics SU G 50 integrated amp, a Sony TA AX 410, and a Pioneer PL 500 turntable. Maybe one day I'll find something truly impressive
