Are you looking for a new project? Do you like challenges? Would you like a buyer before you even begin the project?

I’m looking to have a custom stereo amplifier built based around 2A3 and 845 tubes. A Class A Single Ended Triode amplifier.

I'm not technical so I don't know what is possible but have a number of ideas based on a number of amps I have seen from manufactures such as Triode Corporation (Japan), Triode Labs, DECWARE, deHavilland, Line Magnetic Audio.

PM me if interested to discuss details.

Anyone have experience building an amp using 2A3 and 845 tubes?

Hi, what kind of outlay do you have pegged for this kind of work?

Thanks AudiOhm. I spoke to Syd about my idea. A great guy. I quite enjoyed speaking to him.

I appreciate the suggestion.

845 tube based amps are not for the faint of heart DIY types as DC voltages as high as 1700 volts and peak ac voltages as high as 3000 volts are not uncommon inside some 845 amps.

If I were getting a custom amplifier built, and since you haven't put a budget, I would get Thomas Mayer (http://vinylsavor.blogspot.ca/) to build me one, hands down...to enlist a hobbyist is probably okay but who you gonna call when things go south? You can't assume that they'll be able or willing to support an item like that...Another 'builder' of SET amps out there is James Burgess (I own on of his 45-SET amps, and will not likely parting with it any time soon), or Jeff Korneff...
