Recently I was in communication with one of the CAM Moderator and thanks to him I was able to discuss some details of this case with the seller. To make this really long story short, we have agreed that I will send this tuner to the repair shop for full, independent assessment of the existing damages to receive an estimate what needs to be done to get a clean bill of health to this unit. After it the seller will make a refund to my account.
I would like to express my appreciation to the really patient CAM moderator who was willing to spend his time to communicate with both parties to solve this really ugly case. I will keep you all posted how it is developed.
Thank you all for your comments!

I am a new cam member and have yet to buy any items.I feel at this point i would only purchase items localy.Pick-up myself, maybe even audition the gear.
I can only imagine pre-paying for a "quality item" and receive a nightmare.
I posted a few items on cam and i would only sell them localy to insure the buyer was happy with the purchase.

I too have been screwed a few times from buying on CAM two from ontario. One from BC . Have made quite a few purchases from Audiogon and not once have had a problem. I have stopped buying from CAM. At least 10 questions about the item should be asked by the buyer and at least you have the sellers replies in email. Remember integrity in audio sales has to be priority or the internet sales will fall bu the way . Cheers and buyer beware.!

it's all about personal experience and who you deal with. I've spent about 7 or 8 grand on CAM in the last 4 years. 80% was from CAM registered dealers and 20% with personal and I haven't had any problems. On top of that I've sold about $2000 worth of stuff and all the deals went off totally without a hitch.

so I guess it's different for everyone but don't judge CAM based on the small percentage of deals that have problems. I'm sure in total less then %5 (just a guess) of deals have any trouble at all.
